This is the template I have come up with and have been following and tweaking for the past few years at University. It has been helping me stay on track and it maybe useful for others. Setting tasks to do everyday is what everyone should be doing whether it’s through Trello or not. Keeping productive especially during pandemics is great for stopping you from going into a downwards spiral and getting nothing done.
How to use
Add tasks to the Backlog but try and keep the list manageable (~10 max). The tasks can vary from something you want to learn, something you want to do and something you need to do such as going outside.
In the morning, move tasks from the Backlog into the Today column and feel free to add any extras you want to do that day which aren’t in the Backlog. But again, make it achievable, so we recommend 3 at most. It’s more important to consistently do few tasks than be sporadic.
When you are about to start working on a task move it into Doing. If there are more than two tasks in Doing then you should move some back into the Today column so you can focus on specific tasks since switching between tasks wastes time, but there will be times when you need to leave a task for later.
Once you have completed a task, move it into the Done Today column. At the end of the day, admire that you got work done, if not, then have another shot at it tomorrow!
Any leftover cards in Today will be carried onto the next day unless they need to be moved back into the Backlog for reasons.
Leave the cards in Done Today until the next morning so you can easily see what you were doing yesterday and hopefully get a bit of motivation when you move the cards from Done Today to Done. Then pick out the tasks to put in Today for your new day!
Rinse and repeat. Good luck!
